Why do we recommend this preparation?
With once daily administration, the effervescent tablet, containing 1500 mg glucosamine sulphate, contributes to the easing of symptoms caused by the degenerative changes in our joints. We recommend this preparation as an alternative option to patients who dislike the tablet format.


In what cases is the preparation recommended?

  • To ease mild and moderately severe symptoms of the degenerative changes in the knee joint
  • To ease the symptoms of osteoarthritis in the knee joint

Glükózamin Béres is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drug.


The beneficial effect of glucosamine sulphate on joints1:

  • normalises the changed metabolism of the joint cartilage
  • regenerates damaged cartilage
  • has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, but does not cause gastric mucosa irritation, so it does not generate gastrointestinal side effects characterising NSAIDs
  • its administration is recommended as a course of treatment, as it builds up its effect in 2-3 weeks and the effect persists for some time even in the absence of further treatment.

Dosing:

  • For adults: 1 effervescent per day in a course of treatment

Take the effervescent dissolved in a glass of water within 1-1.5 hour after a meal.

WHAT TYPE OF MEDICINE IS GLÜKÓZAMIN BÉRES EFFERVESCENT AND WHAT DISEASES IS IT RECOMMENDED FOR?

Glükózamin Béres is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drug.
Glükózamin Béres is a preparation easing mild and moderately severe symptoms of the degenerative changes in the knee joint (osteoarthritis in the knee joint).


IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE TAKING GLÜKÓZAMIN BÉRES EFFERVESCENT

Do not take Glükózamin Béres effervescent if

  • you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or other auxiliary material of Glükózamin Béres effervescent tablet.

Glükózamin Béres can be administered with caution in the following cases

  • in case of decreased sugar tolerance (if your organism is incapable of sufficiently utilizing the sugar you consumed). It may occur that your blood sugar level needs to be checked more frequently after starting the glucosamine treatment.
  • if you have renal or liver insufficiency. No studies have been conducted with these patients, so no dosing recommendation can be provided.
  • if you know if you are at a risk of having cardio-vascular diseases, because in some cases, patients under glucosamine treatment have been reported to have increased cholesterol level (hypercholesterolemia).
  • If you have asthma, you need to know that your asthmatic symptoms may get more severe when starting the glucosamine treatment.

Other medicinal products taken during the time of treatment


Inform your doctor or pharmacist by all means about other medicines including over-the-counter products you presently take or took in the near past.


Precaution shall be taken if Glükózamin Béres effervescent tablet needs to be taken with other drugs – mainly warfarin and tetracycline. Please consult your doctor.


Pregnancy, lactation


Consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to starting to take any medicine.


Do not take Glükózamin Béres during pregnancy.
Do not take glucosamine during nursing.

Important information on particular constituents of Glükózamin Béres effervescent


The preparation contains sorbitol and glucose. In case your doctor has informed you about your sensitivity to particular sugars, please consult your doctor prior to taking this medicinal product.



HOW TO TAKE GLÜKÓZAMIN BÉRES EFFERVESCENT?

Take Glükózamin Béres effervescent tablet in accordance with the Patient information leaflet or your doctor’s instructions. If you have questions about dosing, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose of the preparation:
1 effervescent per day as a course of treatment for adults.
Take the effervescent dissolved in a glass of water within 1-1.5 hour after a meal.


Glucosamine is not recommended for the treatment of acute symptoms accompanied by pain. Symptoms (with pain in particular) may start to abate only several weeks after the start of the treatment or even later in certain cases. If the symptoms do not get milder even after 2-3 months, the continuation of the glucosamine therapy shall be reassessed.

If you took more Glükózamin Béres effervescent tablets than recommended


If you took a high quantity, contact your doctor or a hospital.


If the prescribed dose of Glükózamin Béres effervescent was missed


Do not take a double dose the next time to make up for the omitted dose.


If you stop taking Glükózamin Béres prematurely


In general, there are no adverse effects arising when the treatment is discontinued.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

As every medicine Glükózamin Béres effervescent may also cause side effects, which however do not occur in everyone.
The following side effects have been mentioned:


Frequent (occurring in more than one of 100, but less than one of 10 patients): headache, fatigability, nausea, abdominal pains, digestion problems, diarrhoea and constipation.


Not frequent (occurring in more than one of 1000, but less than one of 100 patients): hives, itching, redness.


Should any of the side effects turn severe or should you perceive any symptom not listed among the side effects of the patient information leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.



HOW TO STORE GLÜKÓZAMIN BÉRES EFFERVESCENT?

Store it below 25oC. Close it well to keep it away from moisture.


The medicine is to be stored out of reach of children.


Do not take Glükózamin Béres effervescent after the expiry date (Felh.:) printed on the box. The expiry date is the last day of the month indicated.


Do not discard medicines with wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to discard medicines you do not need any longer. These measures help protect the environment.

What does Glükózamin Béres effervescent contain?


The active substances of the preparation: 1884 mg glucosamine sulphate 2 NaCl (equalling 1500 mg glucosamine sulphate and 384 mg sodium chloride) per effervescent tablet. Additional compounds: sorbitol, mannitol, citric acid (containing: water-free citric acid, spray dried glucose syrup), sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium, 12028-31 lemon aroma Permaseal (containing: maltodextrin, gum arabic, ascorbic acid, butilated hydroxyanisole), macrogol 4000.


What does preparation look like and what does the packaging contain?


White or almost white round, flat effervescent tablet smelling like lemon.


20 effervescent tablets in a container with a cap containing moisture binding lining.
