The objectives of Béres Foundation involve mainly the support of disease preventive and healing activities, help provided to the old and sick, as well as the sponsorship of scientific, as well as value creating and protecting programmes.
The Hungarian Olympic Committee held its annual Awards Gala on 14 May where 13 personalities and teams of the Hungarian sport and artistic scene were granted the Fair Play Award. The event started with greeting speeches of Jenő Kamuti, Chair of Fair Play Committee, Krisztián Kulcsár, President of MOB, Dániel Gyurta, IOC Member and Péter Sárfalvi, Deputy Secretary of State.
The 25-year-old Béres Foundation held a charity concert. “Life’s what is worth fighting for!” cited Klára Béres, President of Béres Foundation celebrating its 25th anniversary, the words of dr. József Béres Sr. while opening a charity concert for the recovery of children with leukaemia held at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music on 10 May. János Balázs pianist, Andrea Vigh harpist and the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok, conducted by Gábor Hollerung were the main features of the event. The Béres Foundation offered the total incomes of the successful concert to the Hungarian Paediatric Oncology Network. The purpose of the donation is to introduce a new diagnostic method that enables a faster and more customized therapy for children with leukaemia, significantly increasing their chance of recovery.
The book, Fine Hungarian Song, edited by József Béres and published in two volumes so far, has opened a new chapter in its story. It was republished in a one-volume revised and extended edition and presented together with a documentary on the book directed by Katalin Petényi and Barna Kabay in the Danube Palace on 26 April. At the presentation event, József Béres spoke about his thoughts concerning the new release, and Katalin Petényi told us about the idea and messages of their movie.
